I had previously been using Known as my blogging platform but decided to shift back to WordPress. I love Known but many of the reasons I originally moved to it no longer work:
- POSSE support for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Replying to websites
- Support for IndieSyndicate and other IndieWeb standards
Some of these capabilities stopped working as social media sites became silos, closing off or limiting their APIs. Other issues were caused by Known not keeping up with changes in APIs and web standards.
Known was a nice, lightweight blogging platform – its creator is thinking about updating it to keep up with changes on the web. If that happens I’ll likely move back to it.
